Matrix Screensaver is, as you guess, a screensaver that try to reproduce the computer code seen in the movie Matrix. It's supposed to work on any Power Macintosh with Mac OS 7.6 or higher.
I’ve been able to test it only on few configurations. So every comments are welcome and can be sent at the following address : m.flahault@free.fr
Matrix Screensaver was made with REALBasic™. It's a freeware and so can be distributed freely.
2 - How do I use it ?
Matrix Screensaver is just an application, so launch it and leave it in the background. It could be a good idea to put an alias of it in the Startup Items folder of your System folder.
3 - What are the possible settings ?
Many settings are available. Choose Settings... in the File menu to see the settings panel.
This window has two main parts.
- Screensaver Settings, that presents the classic settings of a screensaver :
- Time Before Sleep : the number of minutes of inactivity before Matrix code is displayed.
- SleepNow Corner : the corner of the main screen where you should move your mouse
to get Matrix Code displayed immediately.
- Matrix Code Settings, that contains sliders to control the appearance of the Matrix code. Here you can set :
- Number of Lines : the speed at which new lines are created.
- Lines Fade Speed : the average speed at which lines are going to fade.
- Lines Life Time : the average time a line will wait between its completion and its fade.
- Lines Length : the maximum length of the lines of code (in number of characters).
- Lines Speed : the average speed at which new symbols are added to lines.
- Lines Font : the shape of symbols that will make the lines.

5 - What’s new in version 1.6 (since version 1.0) ?
- Lines of code don’t have the same brightness;
- Lines of code now disappear from the top of the screen;
- If you choose the font "Courier", lines of code will only display numbers;
- Characters in lines of code can change all the time;
- Works on multi-monitors configurations;
- Fixed a possible source of crash;
- New application icon;
- Include this Read Me file.
6 - Known bugs
- The mouse cursor may not disapear when Matrix code is displayed.
- If you have a big monitor, or more than one monitor, it could be necessary to increase the amount of RAM dedicated to Matrix Screensaver to avoid error of type 2 or 3 when the screensaver activate.
